Did God leave all mankind to perish in sin & misery?
Out of God's mere good pleasure, from all eternity, elected some to everlasting life, did enter into a covenant of grace, to deliver them out of the estate of sin & misery, & to bring them into one of salvation by a redeemer.
What is the misery of that estate whereinto man fell?
All mankind by their fall lost communion with God, are under his wrath and curse, and so made liable to all miseries in this life, to death itself, and to the pains of hell forever.
Moses quickly bowed his head toward the earth and worshiped. & he said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, O Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us, for it is a stiff-necked people, & pardon our iniquity and our sin, & take us for your inheritance.”
- Ex 34:8 - 9

Wherein consists the sinfulness of that estate whereinto man fell?
It consists in the guilt of Adam's first sin, the want of original righteousness, and the corruption of his whole nature, which is called original sin; together with all transgressions which proceed from it.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

"What a mercy it is, that neither you, but especially I, am not made myself an example like Lot's wife. This gives us occasion to thank God, to fear before Him, and always remember Lot's wife."
- Hopeful, Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan
Did all mankind fall in Adam's first transgression?
The covenant being made with Adam, not only for himself, but for his posterity; all mankind, descending from him by ordinary generation, sinned in him, and fell with him, in his first transgression.
What was the sin whereby our first parents fell from the estate wherein they were created?
The sin whereby our first parents fell from the estate wherein they were created was their eating the forbidden fruit.
Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died - more than that, who was raised - who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.
- Romans 8:34 (ESV)
Like as the hart for water-brooks
in thirst doth pant and bray;
So pants my longing soul, O God,
that come to thee I may.
- Psalm 42:1 (Scottish Psalter)
