As a futurist I donโt like the notion of the โgood old daysโ at all. But when it comes to simpler times of the early naively optimistic and honest Internet, I miss that.
Now on @sciam: This year's physics Nobel honored work that showed the universe is, in an empirical sense, unreal.
Confused by that statement (and its profound implications)? Don't worryโthe experts are, too. @dangaristo explains it as well as anyone can.

The number of AI papers on arXiv per month grows exponentially with doubling rate of 24 months.
How can we cope with this? AI itself can help, by predicting & suggesting new research directions.

โThe world is much more complex than our brains, which means that we canโt foresee the consequences of our technologiesโ argues Anders Sandberg. Will technology make us less fulfilled? @anderssandberg, Priyadarshini Karve and @silkiecarlo debate https://t.co/Flz92sfjT2
I think the problem is most of these futurists donโt have enough exposure to analog biological twins to understand the concept of twins better before they try to imagine it in synthetic form. I was once married to someone with a twin and the twin is very divergent.
Many โfuturistsโ insist that technological advances will enable humans to โupload our mindsโ into computer systems, thereby allowing us to โlive forever,โ defying our biological limitations. This concept is deeply flawed...
