It is our pleasure to announce that the winner of the Gainesville City Schools Spelling Bee is our Virginia Munn.  She won after 12 rounds of spelling and vocabulary in front of a large audience.  Congratulations Virginia!!!

Monday, Jan 6 is TEACHER WORK DAY! Last day of Winter Break for students! However, good night to start getting back on a schedule of going to bed on time and getting up at a decent time so Tuesday isn’t so hard! Sorry, not sorry. ❤️

Congrats to Dr. Oliver and Ms. Grindle for being selected as the GMS EAST Certified and Classified HERO OF THE HERD! They make a difference everyday and were nominated and selected by the staff. Congrats to both of these RED ELEPHANTS!!!!!

Hurricane Helene has an expected rainfall exceeding 10 inches in our area. While we believe the morning will have light flooding and will be safe for passage, we do not feel confident about the afternoon and anticipated wind late Thursday and into Friday. Be safe Big Red!

Congrats to our RED ELEPHANT Lucy! She won 1st place out of all middle school students @TheQuinlanArts Butterfly Contest. There were over 150 students from Hall County/Gainesville City who participated. We are so PROUD that Lucy represented GMS East in the contest. 🦋

Cross country had an amazing first race of the season! 4 of our boys made the top 50 out of 174. Our girls had 5 in the top 50 including Isabel Lee who placed 6th out of 125. Go Big Red!
