I am deeply concerned by the announced closure of this hotel and the dismissal of 122 employees. This is not simply a corporate restructuring; it is a social and economic crisis that will affect dozens of families and have lasting consequences for our community.
I cannot remain silent while so many workers face uncertainty about their future. Behind every job lost is a family struggling to make ends meet, a parent providing for children, and individuals who have contributed for years to the success of Saint-Martin's tourism industry.
I respectfully call on the Prefect of Saint-Martin, our elected officials, and all relevant authorities to take immediate action. The people affected by this decision deserve transparency, honest answers, and meaningful support. They also deserve clear commitments regarding their future employment and the future of this important property.
I believe that economic development must go hand in hand with social responsibility. Protecting jobs and supporting working families should be a priority for all those entrusted with public leadership.
Today, I ask our leaders not to stand on the sidelines. I urge them to engage, facilitate dialogue, and help find solutions that protect both the workers and the long-term interests of Saint-Martin.
The community is watching. The employees are waiting.
