@NathanGraviteh FRLG should be higher it is by far the best remake. It doesnt change what doesnt need to and adds interesting new things. Islands endgame + improved elite four. HGSS adds following mon thats it. While levels being very low later and the Johto mons available is not fixed.

Generally the couples will also lean towards the majority which is 1 male and 1 female and rarely will it be same gendered even if some fan bases (westerners usually) would desire something else. So there you have it fellow westerners a little look into a new world.

For anyone wondering why female characters in a shounen tend to lean towards the male gaze as it were then the reason for that is that Shounen is a male targetered genre. The more you know but i know plenty of people (westerners) who apparently havent realized this.

@MonteCristo I think the narrative reason was actually interesting. Like your a guy with an ancestor in the olden days and you take their place kinda. That being said i can see why you want to drop the middleman per say and go straight into the world without being shown or told much else.
