THE CHAIN THAT SAVES LIVES ON THE ROAD

Have you noticed the iron chain dragging behind fuel tankers while they are moving?

It is not a mistake and it is not decoration.

Inside a moving tanker, fuel keeps shifting as the vehicle moves. This movement can generate static electricity due to friction and separation of charges.

If that charge builds up and suddenly releases as a spark, it can become extremely dangerous around fuel vapour.

That chain is a grounding system.

It drags on the road and continuously discharges any built up static electricity safely into the earth before it can cause a spark.

What looks like a simple chain is actually a safety system preventing fire and explosion.

This is Physics protecting lives quietly on the road.

Next time you see a fuel tanker, look again and think differently.
