It is very difficult to work without any selfish motive. Some desire somehow creeps in. I ask you this: If the Lord reveals Himself to you, will you pray to Him for such things as schools, dispensaries and hospitals?
BHAGAVAN SRI RAMAKRISHNA
Lay the burden of your mind before Sri Ramakrishna. Tell him your sorrows with your tears. You will find that he will fill up your arms with the desired object.
HOLY MOTHER SRI SARADA DEVI
Having enjoyed ‘this’ joy, one doesn’t like the ‘other’ joy. Having tasted divine bliss, the joy of the world appears to be tasteless.
BHAGAVAN SRI RAMAKRISHNA
Why do you worry about the world before taking care of yourself? You want to save the world, don't you? Can you save the world before saving yourself? And what means being saved? Saved from what? From illusion. Salvation is to see things as they are.
SRI NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ
As the state of your mind, so is your gain. Bhagavan sees the mind. He doesn’t care who is doing what or where one is. ‘Janardhana' knows the innermost thought.
BHAGAWAN SRI RAMAKRISHNA
That Jnana which makes nothing of the lotus feet of the Guru, is surely Ajnana. If the Guru's lotus feet are slighted, where is the basis for Jnana?
HOLY MOTHER SRI SARADA DEVI
The word of the mantra is living. Can anyone who has received it give it back? Can he, once having felt attraction for the Guru, get rid of him?
HOLY MOTHER SRI SARADA DEVI
Small desires such as the desire to eat, drink, sleep and attend to calls of nature, though these may also be classed among desires, you can safely satisfy. They will not implant vasanas in your mind, necessitating further birth.
SRI RAMANA MAHARISHI
Whatever you eat you must first dedicate to God; you should not take any other kind of food. If you take consecrated food your blood and your mind will be purified; you will find strength. If your mind is pure, your faith and love will be pure.
HOLY MOTHER SRI SARADA DEVI
Surrender can never be regarded as complete so long as the devotee wants this or that from the Lord.
True surrender is the love of God for the sake of love and nothing else, not even for the sake of salvation.
Sri Ramana Maharishi
The mind of man runs after enjoyment. Enjoyment is to be sublimated into divine experience. If the objects are enjoyed with the Chosen Deity, how will undesirable things or evil come? Rather, more good impressions will be left upon the mind.
