Recently honored with the Science Spectrum Trailblazer Award from BEYA, Dr. Wood exemplifies excellence, dedication, and groundbreaking leadership.

As an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, she passionately advances biomedical imaging technologies and their clinical applications, driven by a commitment to inclusive innovation. With a robust foundation in Electrical Engineering and over a decade of experience developing and translating medical devices and biomedical wearables, Dr. Wood consistently pioneers solutions designed to serve diverse physiological needs. Her accomplishments not only illuminate new frontiers in biomedical engineering but also pave the way for future generations of women in STEM.

This Women's History Month we are thrilled to also recognize the outstanding achievements of Adrianne Gowie, a dynamic leader and innovator in STEM. Adrianne's dedication to driving impactful change in technology and education is exemplified by her recent accolade, the Science Spectrum Trailblazer Award from BEYA!

Even as an undergraduate at Farmingdale State College, Adrianne evidenced the pioneering spirit that earned her the award. At Farmingdale, she conducted research on knee replacement to create a longer-lasting, more efficient knee implant, as well as created a 3-dimensional model on Inventor for a Nastran stress/displacement test. Adrianne earned her M.S in Mechanical Engineering from NYU's Tandon School of Engineering. With a proven track record of innovation and excellence, Adrianne is a visionary who leverages her expertise to create transformative solutions that empower communities and foster inclusivity. Her work reflects a deep commitment to advancing science, fairness and responsibility, making her a true trailblazer and an inspiration for future generations of both women and men.
