A young woman got married, some of Kashmir’s prominent names were present and somehow we managed to turn someone else’s wedding into a public trial. This is what patriarchy, insecurity and our peculiar obsession with other people’s lives can produce.
Today, if someone even our own brother or sister achieves something we could not, we instinctively begin looking for a way to make their achievement a threat to our culture, our values or our morality. We have become remarkably good at finding faults in the lives of people who have simply managed to do what we couldn’t. She spent her own money, built her own life and earned the people who stood beside her. Someone else’s happiness is not an attack on our culture. Maybe our Kashmiriyat needs less envy and more grace. #BREAKING Lawyers Associations For Constitution forms an independent commission comprising former Judges to conduct an inquiry into the validity and impact of SIR exercise.

The commission will be led by Justice MB Lokur (former SC Judge) and will also consist of :

Justice AK Patnaik (former SC Judge)

Justice Badar Darrez Ahmad (former CJ, J&K HC)

Justice Rekha Sharma (former Delhi HC Judge)

Justice Anjana Prakash (former Patna HC Judge).

Senior lawyers Kapil Sibal @KapilSibal , Prashant Bhushan @pbhushan1 , CU Singh, PC Sen, Raju Ramachandran, Rebecca M John, Warisha Farasat, Vrinda Grover @vrindagrover , etc will give legal assistance to the Commission.

The Commission will conduct public hearings and will attempt to release a report by December 2026.

The Centre is learnt to be examining the possibility of granting Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo a one-year extension, with administrative continuity in a sensitive region cited as a key consideration.

Dulloo, a 1989-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, is currently serving as Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, a post he took over on 1 December 2023. He is due to retire on 31 October 2026. Officials familiar with the matter indicate that his continuation is being weighed in view of his experience and his role in managing coordination between the Union Territory administration and the Centre on critical governance issues.

Born on 24 October 1966, Dulloo holds a https://t.co/KIWoc7IXIB in Civil Engineering and has spent over three decades in public service across both the Union and erstwhile state administration. His career has included key assignments in finance, health, agriculture, and border management.

At the Centre, he served as Secretary in the Department of Border Management under the Ministry of Home Affairs. In Jammu and Kashmir, he has held multiple senior positions, including Financial Commissioner in the Finance and Health & Medical Education departments, where he was closely involved in steering the region’s COVID-19 response.

Earlier in his career, he also served as Deputy Commissioner in districts such as Udhampur, Baramulla and Rajouri, gaining extensive field-level administrative experience.

As the Union Home Ministry begins to assess succession planning, Dulloo’s extension remains under consideration, underscoring the emphasis on continuity in the Union Territory’s top administrative leadership.
