Great interview out today with @robertashef from @granthamcsf on GMOs and food sustainability. “so what is your position on GM? Are you pro or anti?”. My answer is always, “It’s complicated!”

@Marvel might have shown us mutants can have superpowers or be horrible creatures... Agricultural scientists like @BorlaugHunger have taught us mutant can feed the planet, @GenPodified likes to think it's just Nature having a bit of fun! Mutations aren't always a bad thing.

This is testimony to the fact that #gmo technology, although an incredible resource for farmers, is not a silver bullet. Herbicide resistant crops need to be combined with good farming practices such as crop rotation & moderate herbicide use. #SustainableAgriculture#gmcrops
Since there are no GM chickens, eggs or bunnies, I thought a #gmo EGGplant was the next best thing to wish you all a happy Easter break! :)
See you next week! #gmo#scicomms#btbrinjal
@Botanygeek I totally understand our need as scientists to point this out. But I also think we can't blame the public for misusing the word when we have a European Agency (ECHA) called "European Chemicals Agency" and we commonly call herbicides and similars agro-chemicals... :)
As we approach the most wonderful time of the year , here's some advice on how to have a real conversation with your anti-vax neighbour, your flat-earther mother in law, your climate-change skeptic dad... And why not, your anti-GMO physiotherapist! #SciComms#ChristmasIsComing
During a delightful speech to regulatory scientists in May, we talked about our sisters-in-law.
A promise kept...with a tongue in cheek.

Gene editing discussion at 5.17 minutes, fragment of Michael Gove's statement and interview to a scientist and a representative of the Soil Association.

Michael Gove seems to have had a change of heart, but why choose gene editing and not GMOs in general? 🤨
I think it might have to do with "transgenesis". Gene editing can be used to... https://t.co/3XY2CfcAzv
Thank youuu! Science needs to be tested! You can't just go rogue and experiment without a solid research background! 👩🔬👨🔬Crispr is exciting, but let's not forget the basics of the scientific method!!! 🤦♀️🤦♂️ https://t.co/kuJ0GZ5SOK
