Confused whether people want an elevated procedural or cosy crime? Worried your pitch isn't high concept enough? Join us Sunday March 10th for a workshop that will help you Unlock Your Killer Concept! https://t.co/jM5IICVsd9
Our interview with the fabulous Liz Kerin is up!!! Liz dishes on everything from writing and publishing your first book, getting an agent, writing grounded horror and dealing with development. You won't want to miss this one! https://t.co/VLWEyFaEiH
Yet another reason we're doing Unlock Your Killer Concept (new class May 11th!) Loglines matter. Query letters matter. If you want to sell your project, learning how to clearly and effectively pitch your unique premise and take is everything. https://t.co/jM5IICVsd9
I’ve signed a ton of writers off query emails and the only thing I ever look for in the initial query is a logline that intrigues me.
That logline gets me to request the script and everything else flows from there.
#amquerying I'll be closing to queries on querymanager Friday 4/5/24 (to catch up w/ the 130+ queries I've received in the past week). I'll reopen again in May. Please query me when YOU and YOUR WORK are ready. I'm not going anywhere! Thank you, as always, for sharing your work.
Looking forward to participating in #IWSGPit today! If I ❤️ your tweet, please upload your query to https://t.co/wBetSouWo7 with “Requested Submission” in the subject line. Please only submit to one CAA agent if you receive several likes. Happy pitching!
So I'm just gonna say it: I really don't like when novels suddenly switch genres at the end. This isn't a writing rule. There are no rules. But it's my personal pref that you at least seed where something is going; don't use a genre switch as a deus ex machina to solve the crime.
#amquerying It's been a while but I'm re-opening to queries next week, week of 3/27 on querymanager! (Which also means if you're waiting on me, you'll hear very soon.) Thanks, as always for sharing your work with me. 📚 https://t.co/KANcHPoqjs
Had such a good time with our amazing students at the Unlock Your Killer Concept Workshop on Sunday!! Hollywood may be in the doldrums, but creators keep creating and exercising their fierce imaginations. Yahoo, writers! What other kinds of workshops would you like to see?
Join us THIS SUNDAY for Unlock Your Killer Concept. Super excited to help you hone your concept, polish your emotional pitch, and unlock your story's exciting potential. https://t.co/C2jdgmshZD
We loved chatting w/author @sagitschwartz (Since She's Been Gone.) A frequent q's we get is about the difference between outlining a novel and a screenplay. In this excerpt from our chat, Sagit discusses outlining & the dual timeline novel! https://t.co/DdMdVN9wnB #writingtips
Interested to see where this new publishing outfit, run by long-time pros but serving the middle ground between the big four and self-publishing will go....That the author of Atomic Habits is helping launch it is an interesting bat signal. https://t.co/zazJ74NeL2
@adrianmckinty Interesting point. There's lit fic I love. But I've always been drawn to genre fiction. I've worked since I was 12 years old. And I was always drawn to genre voices, writers who were intimate with the civil servants and working class worlds I moved in. People who understood LIFE.
I did too. #Elsbeth is a clever, amusing, quirky-in-the-best-way character. I get the comparisons to Poker Face tho it's almost its NY-opposite--as much Holmes as Columbo. And Wendall Pierce! I'm so in. Congrats to the Kings & Jonathan Tolins.❤️❤️❤️ the revival of procedural FUN.
