Going to try to reduce Twitter use tonight & tomorrow- so just want to assure all my friends @GenSyn that I will be praying tomorrow! Be kind, and bold and courageous and loving and Christlike 🙏🏼
Some thought provoking points in this helpful thread. Michael’s situation is different from our English Anglican context, but we too may have lessons we could learn.
So in total, 580 people took part in this poll. Of that number:
1) 1/5 of us are at present on antidepressants due in part to ministry related issues
2 4/5 of us are not are present
3 1/3 of us either are or have been
4 nearly 1/2 of us either are, have been or think we need to
I would be very grateful for any comments about this result. Obviously this is in no way is a controlled sample at all, but to me these results seem particularly high.
@joannacollicutt or any others out there, are you aware of any studies in this area that may be interesting for me to look at I would like to think this through a bit more.
I loved an archdeacon
I felt my knees weaken
When she offered to lead me in mission.
When she asked me to hold her
I felt humbler and bolder
In line with the C of E vision.
But when I pressed her most avidly
To grant me a faculty
She just gave me list B permission.

I want to highlight this incredibly important piece in the @ChurchTimes. Clergy burnout is huge at the moment. Many clergy I know and love - outstanding, faithful priests - are exhausted. Many are on the point of leaving ministry because demands on them are now unsustainable.
The church is such an asset to the flourishing of our country. For a senior government official to refuse to meet with the @JustinWelby is both a major snub and scandal.
I do hope this story is not true. I cannot think of another Home Secretary that would refuse to meet with an Archbishop of Canterbury. The ABC is a member of the House of Lords, the leader of 85 million Anglican Christians around the world.
Why Read The Bible In Hebrew?
Ever wondered why the Bible spends so much time mentioning tons of names? All those "begats"?
What if I told you reading those names in Hebrew can hold the key to understanding entire Biblical stories?
A thread (for non-Hebrew readers too!) 🧵1
John Spence now telling General Synod: "We are hearing reports of a lack of confidence among candidates that there will be long-terms posts for them and among dioceses about their ability to fund those long term posts"
