Today, I had my first meeting with @SecGenNATO Mark Rutte in my capacity as Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, at a time when #Albania continues to deepen its engagement and responsibilities within the #Alliance.

We shared the view that, in today’s increasingly complex and unpredictable security environment, #NATO is more relevant and indispensable than ever. Strengthening collective defence, increasing defence spending, supporting #Ukraine, and expanding defence industrial capacities remain central priorities for preserving deterrence, resilience, and transatlantic security.

#Albania has consistently proven itself a reliable, committed, and active #Ally. Our contribution to collective security continues to grow through increased defence investments, the modernisation of our #ArmedForces, and active participation in Allied missions and operations. Building on this trajectory, Albania remains fully committed to further strengthening its defence capabilities and ensuring that our commitments translate into concrete operational readiness that enhances both national and Allied security.

We also stressed the importance of maintaining a strong and unified strategic focus on #Ukraine. Albania remains fully aligned with Allied efforts to provide sustained support through NATO mechanisms, including training, assistance, and long-term capacity-building, as part of our broader commitment to defending the rules-based international order.

Regarding the #WesternBalkans, we reaffirmed that NATO’s continued engagement remains essential for safeguarding long-term stability and security in the region. Albania will continue to invest in stronger regional cooperation, closer coordination among Allies, and the effectiveness of NATO’s presence in #Kosovo, with #KFOR playing an indispensable stabilising role.

Looking ahead, I also provided an update on Albania’s preparations to host the next #NATOSummit in #Tirana, the first ever to take place in the Western Balkans. This represents both a historic responsibility and a strong recognition of Albania’s role within the Alliance, as well as of the strategic importance of our region. I reaffirmed Albania’s full commitment, in close coordination with NATO Headquarters, to delivering a successful, forward-looking, and impactful Summit.

Këto të drejta duhet të mbrohen dhe të ushtrohen plotësisht në këtë frymë, në të mirë të të gjithë qytetarëve të cilëve u përkasin, por edhe si një investim i sinqertë për forcimin e demokracisë, institucioneve demokratike, karakterit multietnik të vendit dhe të ardhmes sonë të përbashkët evropiane.

E kam thënë dhe dua ta përsëris: nëse nuk do të jemi në gjendje të ruajm�� të arriturat e fituara me aq mund sic janë përdorimi, zhvillimi dhe trashëgimi i gjuhës shqipe si dhe përfaqësimi i drejtë dhe adekuat, nëse kujdesemi për të mirën e përbashkët, nëse nuk bashkohemi për gjithçka që shkon përtej dhe qëndron më lart se çdo individ, çdo grupim politik apo dallim ideologjik, atëherë përgjegjësia do të jetë vetëm e jona.

Mora sigurinë nga z. Mexhiti se ai, partia e tij dhe koalicioni i VLEN janë dhe mbeten të angazhuar për të mbrojtur dhe zhvilluar më tej të drejtat dhe pozitën e shqiptarëve në Maqedoninë e Veriut, në përputhje me Kushtetutën dhe ligjet në fuqi, duke garantuar #barazi, përfaqësim të drejtë dhe avancim të vazhdueshëm në të gjitha sferat e jetës publike.

Prandaj duhet të jemi në gjendje dhe të aftë të dialogojmë, së pari me njëri-tjetrin, të bashkohemi rreth asaj që kemi të përbashkët, sepse ajo na mban dhe na forcon më shumë se çdo gjë tjetër.

Na duhen më pak fjalë e më shumë punë.

Sepse në këtë mënyrë zhvillohemi e përparojmë, dhe njëkohësisht ndërtojmë edhe një marrëdhënie më të fortë, më bashkëpunuese dhe më miqësore me Maqedoninë e Veriut, vend fqinjë, vend aleat, partner i ngushtë dhe bashkëudhëtar në rrugëtimin tonë #evropian.
