The establishment went home after losing 2024 and came back acting even weaker.
We went home, did some homework, organized better, helped unite the left more, played to our strengths, and convinced voters that political courage should be a litmus test & fighting back a baseline.
Difficult to describe how much work this is all taking behind the scenes, but very proud of our @justicedems team. Most of these wins don’t happen without us, particularly @DarializaforNY and @MelatKirosCO taking down incumbents.
I talked with @justicedems after the 2024 election about their 2026 plans. They'd just came off a bad year where pro-Israel spending took out two of their incumbents. Now, they've already had their best cycle ever. Suffice to say, I didn't see it coming https://t.co/NGfw7pRNaW
NEW: Melat Kiros in a phone call with @POLITICO after her historic win:
“We have to vote out any of the incumbents that are standing in our way by taking that kind of corporate PAC money”
That includes not supporting Jeffries for speaker, she said.
This is Justice Democrats' most successful cycle to date.
Our candidates keep winning because they are acting on voters' demands to bring the fight to the corporations raising our prices, the war lobbies profiting off endless war & genocide, and ICE terrorizing our communities.
After a cycle where many thought AIPAC was unbeatable, our movement and candidates organized to secure four victories just this month while the Israel lobby continues to hide its support in every race we have competed against them.
Congrats to Justice Democrat @MelatKirosCO on defeating a 30-year incumbent in #CO01 tonight!
Melat built a movement that inspired Denverites to remember they have the power to transform what kind of Party they want to be represented by.
They chose one for & by the people.
Justice Democrats: "This is already Justice Democrats’ most successful cycle to date, winning six Democratic primaries and proceeding to the top-two in two California primaries"
often when a big name progressive wins the primary in a safe blue House seat, they spend the general election stumping for others.
In this election cycle a new trend is emerging: the LOSING candidates are doing it too. Kat Abughazaleh, Saikat Chakrabarti, now Nate Blouin 👇🏻
"If enough of us share that commitment to Medicare for All, to ending corporate capture, to an arms embargo [on Israel], we should absolutely say: here are our conditions," Kiros told Axios. "If you want our votes on leadership, on appropriations, this is what it costs."
NEW: House Democrats are *very* concerned about Rep. Diana DeGette losing to challenger Melat Kiros in #CO01
"I think it's quite likely DeGette will lose," said one.
"I worry," another told @axios
Said a third: "I would be worried if I were her." https://t.co/x1pAp6J74f
NEW: The morning after the socialists swept, the establishment had its excuse ready: Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier only won because of gentrification.
It was a convenient narrative.
It is also false. And we can prove it:
https://t.co/IKhIno0fJx
Ta-Nehisi Coates: Future Congresswoman Chevalier represents actual voters. A district filled with black and brown people. And what James Carville is saying is a “statement on how he feels about black and brown people, and the fact that they are useful to him when they vote the way that he agrees with. When they don’t, kick them out of the party. They don’t deserve representation.”
Coates said the Democratic Party “owes its very present existence to the Black freedom struggle.” “Is it actually honoring the core morality and principles of that struggle?” he asked.
Denver, if you want what we've been winning in New York*, you've gotta come out and support @MelatKirosCO now!
Primary election is this Tuesday. Tap in!
*does not apply to the Nuggets
Pretty revealing that what galvanized “centrist” Dems was losing to a couple DSA candidates not for example, losing to a bunch of corrupt fascists who want to end Democracy.
