Why should only the journalists be safe - do they have a special license? why shouldn't other citizens be safe? why aren't other citizens safe today? Because journalists didn't do their jobs. Not only they didn't do their jobs, they actively create a situation in the country that a large section of this country lives under a permanent threat and never feel safe. First you actively orchestrate a society that is unfair, and then you turn around and expect fairness? It is very simple to say, "you can choose not to watch or read who you don't like". It doesn't account for those who watch, become hateful radicals and then lynch people. Such shallowness of thoughts.

I genuinely struggle to understand how a hospital group as large and highly valued as Manipal Hospitals can allow something as basic, and as critical,as washroom hygiene to deteriorate to this extent.

This is not about aesthetics. This is about safety.

Broken taps. Non-functional faucets. Filth that clearly hasn’t accumulated over a few hours but over repeated neglect. And staff who look visibly surprised when this is pointed out, as though expecting functioning washrooms in a hospital is somehow unreasonable.

Let’s be very clear: in a hospital, poor housekeeping is not a minor inconvenience. It is a patient safety issue.

Hospitals deal with immunocompromised patients, post-operative patients, the elderly, newborns, caregivers already stretched to their limits. Infection control cannot begin and end inside an OT or ICU ( not like it exists there).It extends to every surface patients and families touch, including washrooms.

A dirty restaurant is unpleasant.
A dirty mall washroom is careless.
A dirty hospital washroom is dangerous.

What is perhaps most shocking is what this says about leadership.

Because the only conclusion I can draw is that there is no meaningful leadership team, no operations head, no facility head, has recently walked into these washrooms and asked themselves a simple question:

Would I let my own family use this?

If they had, this would not persist.

The washrooms tell a story.

And frankly, so do the ICUs.
But that deserves its own post.

Modi leads one of the fastest growing economies, sits on $691B reserves, and asks a bride to skip her wedding jewellery.

One was a statesman. The other is a showman.

The difference isn’t policy. It’s character.
