@0mgould a great many of us came to GIS from "remote sensing" (back in the day) - imagery was the original input data to many early GISs (with at least one very notable exception)
@joelgolby Anyone other than captain running up to referee and/or swearing at officials gets a yellow card first offence - like rugby - would instantly (well after the first sending off) stop the gratuitous in your face behaviour
Serendipity and brilliant strangers - phone fell from pocket on tube without being noticed; wandered round station, noticed, returned to tube entrance to report loss and guy wanders up escalator with phone!!!! #anonymousheroes
@DanielHewittITV Though iiuc there are 1m+ approved planning applications waiting for ground to be broken - what’s stopping them? Protecting property values? Labour shortage? Materials inflations? #askingforafriend

@historyinmemes Addis Ababa mid 90s - recall a bowling alley (in a hotel basement maybe?) with manual pinsetters where machinery was defunct - paid by us players (and maybe by the alley?)
@cyclisethecity @russellcurtis Am not sure it’s “run” by either; <50% proposed 3500 new builds in similar setting built, all roads predictably clogged @WokinghamBC as very much satellite dorms than centres; dig out the transport assessment for a wake up call/grim grin #planning can be so much better than this!
@philosophygeek Look forward to that post; one view might be that all the money put into space hardware will only get a return when some of those data analytics applications flourish and that will force/encourage price and licence rationalisation? Plus, less of the ‘satellite’!
THREAD: The Benefits of EU Membership
Let's remind ourselves of some of the things Brexit took from us when we left the EU. (Not an exhaustive list.)
1. No barriers to trade with the world's largest trading bloc. (Bristol, Berlin, Barcelona all equally accessible.)
@mouthofmorrison Back in the day (a long long time ago) when I “sold” imagery never sold the same scene twice; even then value was in the same scene at different dates - so much value in change
