Studying Paul looking for what he said God and Jesus Christ are like, that I might become more godly in my behavior. Phil 4:8: God thinks about true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and praiseworthy things. If I think on these, God's peace will be with me.
@stackerco Um, do you mean by educational training or does self-taught biblical scholar count. I seem to recall someone claiming the same thing about Jesus. He was pretty good! I consider every member of the First Pres and Q of 12 as biblical scholars. Amazing!
@mikefoxtrotter @BasedHughBBrown @GuyInco15542744 If you feel it is, then yes, you may choose to think so. That's your privilege. I celebrate choices that value covenants over personal pleasure. Christ valued his covenants over personal pleasure. I want to be more like Christ and find eternal joy rather than temporary happiness.
@FeliciaSunnyFl1 I know the pain of losing a loved one. I am so sorry for your loss. God bless you. I also know the peace that is found in Christ. "Oh death where is thy sting. Oh grave where is thy victory." There is peace in Christ that surpasses all understanding. I pray you receive it.
@LatterDayBean Lately, I've been leaning more towards not carrying. I want ALL guns to go away, even though I really enjoy shooting targets. At what point do we emulate Jesus fully and not utter a word against our tormentors? I can't judge that for anyone else.
@LatterDayBean Saying a church building is no place for weapons is about the sanctity of the building and creating sacred space. The only thing the church can do legally if you carry there is ask you to remove your weapon, call police, cite you for trespassing. That would be weird!
@LatterDayBean There's been no known threats. Of course how often have threats on churches been known in advance? Rarely! I've still chosen not to carry at church. That hasn't stopped me from carrying at other locations.
@LatterDayBean If someone came into the church and began shooting people, would we defend ourselves with violence, fists, chairs, etc. I would. I have the divine mandate given to me as a father to protect my family. Would I carry at church. If there was a known threat, I would but I never have.
@LatterDayBean There is no scripture prohibiting carrying guns in self defense. There are scriptures a stating, thou shalt not kill, I interpret as not murder. Love your enemies. Turn the other cheek.
@LatterDayBean However, church security carry weapons into the conference center to protect the prophet and apostles. Clearly there are times when the church feels it's appropriate or not to have weapons in sacred spaces. Could attribute these policies to level of threat.
