Baby girl died with her parents.

The train didn't derail because of the brakes. It was because of a broken axle. The braking system protocols that were removed from the trains were removed from trains carrying crude oil not the type of chemicals this train was carrying so it wouldn't have even been applicable if it had been Brake failure . The newer braking system was never proven to be anymore effective than the older braking system and was considered not cost effective.The president made the decision based on what was told to him by expert opinions . He didn't just take it upon himself to do it.
