horror game in 4 days with claude opus 5.5 + godot..
pinterest references inspired by silent hill and fatal frame
the trick is code for the big stuff, batches for the small stuff. here’s the workflow:
- step 1: collect pinterest references for the mood and give them to opus
- step 2: run opus in auto mode: it edits files, runs scripts, launches godot, takes screenshots and keeps iterating
- step 3: buildings and big structures get built directly in code
- step 4: opus writes prompts for groups of 10 related props, and nano banana makes one reference image per group
- step 5: each image goes into meshy t2.5 (image-to-3d, smart topology) and comes back as a textured batch
- step 6: split the batches in blender by hand to save claude usage, then opus places them by location
- step 7: textures: nano banana makes 2x2 grids, opus crops them into 4 images, normal and roughness come from the color, and triplanar mapping means no uv unwrapping
- step 8: grime: opus places dirt decals along walls and corners and bakes ao into the props
the numbers:
> ~4 days, and the environment looked close to final by day 2
> ~10 batches = ~100 props
> claude pro plan, ~$90 api-equivalent for the core, ~$180 with experiments
generate props in groups of 10 that share one material. fewer credits, and everything matches (dev: One_Cheek_8843)
