A bear rescue operation in Arizona took an unexpected turn when a sedated bear plunged through a catch tarp, knocking an officer off balance and onto the animal.

Authorities in Rancho Sahuarita said crews were preparing to break a tranquilized bear’s fall from a tree, but the bear landed with more force than anticipated, causing an officer to tumble onto it.

The bear was later safely relocated.
