2026.9.23 (EP54) Miles Guo’s 2018 lawsuit exposed another side of the media mogul who approached him friendly in late 2014. Guo later said Bruno Wu came from a family tied to CCP intelligence. Beijing’s own records describe Wu’s grandfather secretly working for the CCP alongside intelligence figure Pan Hannian.
Then came 2024. The SEC charged Bruno Wu over misleading financial statements, undisclosed interests and a fraudulent letter of intent involving Ideanomics. Wu paid millions and accepted a 10-year ban from serving as an officer or director.
Media mogul. Philanthropist. Power broker. Different masks. One recurring pattern: deception.

DR. ROMAN YAMPOLSKIY: “We need the President of the United States and his Chinese counterpart to make an international deal: Nobody builds general superintelligence. Nobody loses control. Humanity stays in charge.”
“We’ll figure out the economics of it. We can benefit. We can get utopia out of it.”

With America voting in seven weeks, Xi Jinping heads to Washington on Sept. 24 amid tariff-cut talks, renewed farm purchases, and a newly signed 20-year U.S. LNG deal.
In Nov. 2018, Miles Guo described what he said was Beijing’s election calculus: the CCP had pushed to help Trump win in 2016, betting on a dealmaker who “won’t care about human rights.” But that bet soon looked like a miscalculation.
Earlier that year, Guo revealed Xi told Party elders Trump had an 80% chance of losing the midterms. If Trump lost, “we win the next hundred years.” If he survived, Beijing would cut deals, buy time, and “work both hands” while doing everything possible to prevent his 2020 re-election.
The deals are one hand. The U.S. election calendar is the other.
Big Tech asking Washington for more regulation doesn’t sit right. We’ve seen this playbook: fear first, sweeping controls second.
COVID was “danger—comply.”
Now it’s “AI is dangerous—regulate us.”
