Wrote something about my re-read of the Foer book and how it didn't really anticipate any of the major global dynamics of soccer over the past 20 years.
@Beanie0597 Absolutely, thats really awful. And I think we prob agree on a lot of curricular / pedagogical changes that would improve this. Less oversight over where the money goes doesn’t seem like the answer though.
@Beanie0597 It seems disingenuous to claim that each parent will have equitable “choices” available to them, whether due to geography or means. But I would be happy to learn how that isn’t the case.
@Beanie0597 I would love to see a plan that offered parents in failing school districts to choose alternatives that met basic criteria or at least had some kind of oversight. I have no idea why wed give away public education money to absolutely any person or entity claiming to teach kids.
Great thread on 70 years since the Algerian Revolution, which, honestly, we probably underrate in terms of its influence on how we think of revolution and insurgency.
@tichenor4ky But it also offers no checks on how the money could be used. I think there are legitimate concerns about public funds going wherever with no real oversight. I get that that’s the next leg step but frankly I’m not sure I trust the leg to make a sound decision there.
