Retired expert with friends in high/ low places. I hate bureaucracy and bad decisions. Open to chats with current IRCC, IRB, ESDC, CBSA or law enf re: Can Imm
From an @CitImmCanada perspective, the World Cup draw is a mixed bag. 7 countries are eTa, 5 are TRV required, and 2 are eTA-X (Panama and Qatar). Turkiye, Egypt, Sengal and Ghana are high claim countries. It will be interesting to see how many of those nationals get tickets.
Thanks @SeanFraserMP for making it so easy for all these people to stay when you were immigration minister.

This is a very interesting story that tackles a lot of issues. Making an asylum claim nullifies the visa, but the alleged coercion to abandon the claim is problematic. My biggest problem is that this woman's claim is based on a fear of her mother.

@Rayleigh21212@YokieYii@junonewscom No, this is false. High house prices result in higher property taxes. Old people don't benefit. If anything, it forces them to help their kids or grand kids to buy a home, if they can.
@MuntherVFX@CanBorder The Feds didn't mislead anyone. Ineligible claimants are entitled to a PRRA. It's only where people go through the IRB process that CBSA can remove without a PRRA within a year of the last decision.
Conservatives spreading fake news. Surprise. If CBSA removes about person within 1 year of the IRB decision, no PRRA is required. @CanBorder needs to be more efficient.
@BradRedekopp Actually @BradRedekopp , if you knew anything about immigration, you would know that this is incorrect. @CanBorder can remove a rejected refugee claimant within 1 year of their claim / appeal without doing a PRRA. I can't believe how little MPs know.

Beginning May 27, 11:59 pm EDT, we plan to suspend immigration documents for residents of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and South Sudan for the next 90 days. During this time, we also plan to pause decisions on applications from these countries. This is vital to respond to the Ebola outbreak and prevent the disease from spreading to Canada: https://t.co/ewyL1VRFP5

People love to criticize Canada's IT, but this is bananas. The Feds would never keep a system in place that is this bad... unless it was the pay system for their staff. ๐คฃ๐คฃ

@GregChubak It took years for GAC to implement proper IT infrastructure at the missions to support the roll out of GCMS. They have little regard for what IRCC and CBSA do.
1) Good
2) Comparing removal numbers under Harper to now is ridiculous as there are 10x more people with removal orders now.
3) CBSA is managed regionally. Quebec officers take their jobs more seriously.
4) Fast removal avoids ๐จ๐ฆ babies.
