We are teaming up with @longpaddlesup to get the #watersafety message out before the school holidays. Everyone has a responsibility for drowning prevention so please help our campaign by sharing and use the hashtag #STOPLOOKLISTENFLOAT#education#school#charity#teachers
Inflatables (animals, lilo’s, cheap single skin kayaks or paddle boards) not made to be taken into the sea, construction is not up to the demands. Coastal winds, tidal flow can make steering & paddling very difficult or even impossible. For safety, keep inflatables for the pool!
Always check all your kit prior to getting on the water. You need to trust your kit and this is only possible if you look after it and check it before every session!

After a winter rain, stay off frozen water surfaces and away from flowing water. Ice can be compromised and water levels can quickly rise. #LessonsFromTheLifeguard
Learning to swim has definitely changed over the years but always an essential life skill. Learning to swim, young or old, should be a priority 🤙🏊♀️

Be aware of these potential winter water hazards: 1 covered pools - covers can come loose and someone could easily slip beneath undetected.2 hot tubs- supervise children at all times. 3 Ice- know the thickness & know when to stay off. #lessonsfromthelifeguard
Remember to check for ice/snow build-up on your vessel. A regular safety check is important, even if you’re not planning to head out on the water, because build-up can cause your boat to list and take on water or even sink.
We all wear seatbelts because we know that if there is an accident it increases our chances of survival. Let’s apply this same thinking to lifejackets!
Always #wearalifejacket when out boating, rock fishing, or on a PWC.
