BIG NEWS: Rideshare drivers are uniting across the US to put an end to unfair deactivations (aka the way that @Uber tries to bully, control & exploit us). We're fighting for:
✅ Transparency
✅ Fairness
✅ Appeals
It's time to #ActivateRespect 👉 https://t.co/MubCHTYlqG
"We will not be exploited by these corporations and their AI. We're human beings. We stand in solidarity with drivers and all workers!"
-- Rosa with the San Francisco Labor Council
"Drivers are rising up, organizing. We are not invisible, we are not powerless. Together we have the power to stop Uber and Lyft from mistreating drivers."
-- Daryush with California Gig Workers Union
“We want dignity, respect. It’s crystal clear. Why is it that this corporation is allowed to exploit people? They say flexibility, but we know what it means.”
- Ibrahim, one of our driver leaders
"Workers should and do hold power. Profits should not come at the expense of workers. Technology making decisions about us should not reinforce harms."
- German with @TECollab
“Uber is the only job I’ve ever heard of where the harder and longer you work, the less secure you may be. Is it true that you’re earning less now than you were a year ago?”
Drivers say YES!
“It’s a beautiful day to fight corporate greed! Uber has been pioneering how to use AI to manipulate pay, and if they can do it to drivers, they can do it to all of us.”
– Mariah Montgomery, National Campaigns Director with @powerswitchact
We’re here today because Uber pioneered how to use AI to manipulate how much it pays drivers, and other corporations are already following suit.
We’re seeing it in healthcare, retail, and engineering — this is about the future and dignity of ALL workers.
NOW: We’re at Uber HQ in SF with fellow drivers, labor leaders + allies to sound the alarm about AI on the job!
Driver reports suggest that Uber’s AI-powered pay model pushes them to accept lower and lower fares, and spend more time behind the wheel. We're here to say ENOUGH!
In our survey of over 2,500 drivers, 78% said that driving for Uber feels like gambling—if a good fare comes up, that might keep us going. But more often than not, the pay is unpredictable day to day.
Work shouldn’t be a gamble, and our pay shouldn’t be determined by AI.
What happens when #BigTech decides you’re disposable?
An algorithm determines if you can work & chatbots make appealing hard. It seems like a distant tech dystopia, but @Uber drivers live it.
New research from @ACREcampaigns shows how Uber uses AI to deactivate drivers (a flawed, biased, and potentially financially devastating practice).

All across the country, Uber drivers are uniting to win safe, stable, and fair jobs.
One of the most widespread issues they face is getting “deactivated”—when Uber locks drivers out of the app, often without notice, explanation or a meaningful way to appeal.
Sound familiar?
@Uber@lyft@flySFO .@Uber and @Lyft wouldn’t exist without drivers, yet they treat workers as disposable.
Drivers are demanding a system that prioritizes fair pay, safety, and transparency.
