So are Democrats really going to just let a $500 billion climate package that the entire Senate caucus has agreed to and the House has passed...die on the vine? I'm going to lose my mind.
Homelessness can damage kids’ physical health and hinder their ability to do well in school. But one of the most profound and long-lasting impacts I’ve observed is on children’s mental health.

The enhanced Child #Tax Credit has caught the attention of many in pediatrics as a way to address social determinants of health for some families. That’s for good reason: https://t.co/CERXjbaomr

Ma'Khia Bryant was 16 years old and had her entire life ahead of her.
For the second time in less than a week, we are collectively mourning a child killed by the police.
We'll say it again — a system that kills children with impunity cannot be reformed.
I’m really upset that the media is already laying the groundwork for dismissing Ma’khia’s death. If police can arrest mass shooters with assault rifles, they can arrest a 16 year old girl with a knife.
Ma’Khia Bryant, 15 years old, called the police for help bc she other girls were ready to fight her. She pleaded for help several times only to be shot in the chest 4 times by Columbus Police. We demand the same accountability for Ma’Khia like George Floyd #BlackLivesMatter
Once again—
fully grown white men,
some of whom were trained police, military & firefighters,
rioted on the Capitol,
assaulted, maimed & killed police,
and none of them were shot.
Columbus police have killed more than 40 people since 2013. Black people were killed at 5x higher rate than white people. Data shows 6% of Columbus officers do 50% of all use of force. But when one finally gets fired the police union contract-mandated arbitrator reinstates them.
Disturbed by Columbus leadership @MayorGinther essentially claiming police had to deescalate by shooting a child four times. We demand accountability for her family and change in our community. @CivilRights@MikeDeWine
In honor of my son Jordan & all lost to gun violence, we introduced Background Checks for all gun sales today.
We can save lives, but I NEED your help to get this bill through Congress.

U.S. Minimum Wages Have Already Jumped—With Minimal Costs
https://t.co/FLLua1y6on
<-- my thoughts on the Raise the Wage Act of 2021, based on a summary of the research of minimum wage hikes that have already happened featuring @ernietedeschi@arindube@ProfJAParker among others
I believe in economics. And the evidence is clear:
Increases in the minimum wage of up to 80% of the median U.S. wage (which is $19) do not hurt job creation.

Everyone talks about inequity but we are calling on people to do something about it: put vaccines in community clinics, reserve appointments for people who live in the community, arrange transportation, and collect the data to show what you’re doing.
