🚨BREAKING: Filton 4 sentenced as terrorists

Amnesty opposes the use of terrorism powers in this case.

It is completely disproportionate to punish protesters for criminal damage as if they were terrorists, a sentence which stays with you for life.

The defendants in today’s case were sentenced as terrorists because prosecutors want to make an example of them.

Today's decision shows how direct action protesters could be treated in the future.

The use of terrorism laws against direct action protesters must end.

Together we must continue calling out the abuse of power and fighting for our right to protest.

BREAKING: Justice Jeremy Johnson has ruled that the Filton 4 will be sentenced as terrorists – even though two juries refused to convict them of violence charges over their efforts to disable an Israeli factory in the UK making killer drones for use in Gaza. They were found guilty of a minor charge of criminal damage.

Judge Johnson kept the jury in the dark of his plans to sentence the four as terrorists. This is the first time in British legal history that anyone has been sentenced as a terrorist for damaging property. It's a very dark moment in an increasingly authoritarian Britain.

Thousands of legal professionals complained about Johnson's clear abuses of legal procedures to help the government's case for proscribing Palestine Action as a terrorist group.

Johnson has now proved this was always a show trial.

Isso mostra que a violência de Israel não termina quando os sequestrados são libertados. Ela continua no corpo, no medo, na espera por exames, nos efeitos colaterais dos medicamentos, na angústia de quem ainda precisa lidar com as consequências de uma agressão cometida sob custódia de um Estado.

A libertação não apaga a tortura. Não apaga a violência sexual. Não apaga o trauma produzido por um sequestro ilegal e por práticas que deveriam ser tratadas como crimes internacionais.

As violências de Israel continuam acontecendo e produzindo efeitos físicos, psicológicos, políticos e humanos muito depois do fim do sequestro.
