Did you know that CAGIS Teen Ambassadors learn STEM communication skills through CAGIS? 📡
Teens in the STEM Communication Stream of the program learn basic #SciComm skills, use social media to share their experiences, and receive feedback on STEM posts they create in teams! You might even see one of their posts appear on the CAGIS platform, with credit to the teen creators! 👀

Imagine putting on a virtual reality helmet, picking up a welding torch, and joining two pieces of metal together ...virtually and without any sparks! 🛠️
CAGIS Mississauga/Oakville explored the high-tech equipment used in the skilled trades! Along with the VR welding simulation, participants used CNC machining to cut and shape a piece of metal, then put their problem-solving skills to the test with a mechanical puzzle!

Why do more boys enter STEM programs than girls and gender-diverse youth?
Women make up less than 25% of STEM workers and less than 8% of trades workers in Canada. Why does this gender gap exist?

CW: Gender-Based Violence
Today is National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women and the anniversary of the Montreal Massacre at l’École Polytechnique in 1989. We remember the 14 bright young women - many of whom were aspiring engineers - who lost their lives because of a heinous act of misogyny.
On the anniversary, we honour their lives and those of all missing and murdered women, girls, and gender-diverse people. We stand together with survivors and communities advocating for change.
In memory of Geneviève Bergeron, Hélène Colgan, Nathalie Croteau, Barbara Daigneault, Anne-Marie Edward, Maud Haviernick, Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz, Maryse Laganière, Maryse Leclair, Anne-Marie Lemay, Sonia Pelletier, Michèle Richard, Annie St-Arneault, and Annie Turcotte.

We’ve got news!
CAGIS is now a registered charity!
CAGIS is Canada’s largest and longest-running STEM* club for girls and gender-diverse youth. Our evidence-based approach breaks barriers and creates spaces where being a girl or gender-diverse youth in STEM is the norm, rather than the exception.
Over 97% of youth leave CAGIS events feeling like they could be good at STEM, and 94% of graduates are studying or working in a STEM field now. Most say that they would not be where they are today without their CAGIS experiences.
Join us and give a girl or gender-diverse youth an opportunity. Each donation to CAGIS supports our impactful programs, providing girls and gender-diverse youth with role models and hands-on, behind-the-scenes STEM experiences.
Please donate today to help us build a more equitable future in STEM: https://t.co/ifiS4MvUlm

Scientists think they discovered the largest spiderweb ever! 🕷️🕸️
The massive spider web was created by colonies of two different spider species: Tegenaria domestica (common house spider) and Prinerigone vagans. In total, scientists think there are more than 111,000 spiders living in the colony inside the pitch-black Sulfur Cave, located on the Albanian-Greek border.

CAGIS Virtual caught a wave this weekend! 🌊
Members built and experimented with their own functional (and sweet) transverse wave, then explored properties like amplitude and frequency with Dr. Nirosha Murugan (@msahsorin), Canada Research Chair in Tissue Biophysics. Dr. Murugan broke down the physics behind waves and shared how she uses biology and physics to solve big problems!
