One of the big mysteries in media is YouTube's sports strategy.
I've got some exclusive details on how executives there are thinking about live sports. At first, I thought YouTube would be a major player buying sports rights. More recently, I started to second guess myself.
And now, after doing a little digging, I'm back to my original position. I think YouTube is going to be a major player buying live sports rights in the next five years.

What once was the peak, is now just the beginning.
Paramount and Warner Bros. shaped over a century of culture. By combining them, we aren't rewriting history — we're equipping these iconic studios with a more powerful engine. Together, we are Skydance: a creative-first home for bold, quality storytelling.
We chose this name for a few important reasons. First and foremost, as we bring Paramount and Warner Bros. together, we wanted to preserve what has made each of these studios iconic. Both have distinct identities, extraordinary legacies and brands that have resonated with audiences for generations. We never wanted a new corporate identity to diminish, alter or overshadow either one. Instead, we wanted a name that would give the combined company an identity of its own while allowing Paramount and Warner Bros. — and all our extraordinary brands — to remain in the spotlight.
We have big goals for Skydance, and we intend to pursue them with passion, imagination and a willingness to take smart risks. At the same time, we will honor what makes Paramount and Warner Bros. special — giving both studios the opportunity to grow, tell more great stories and bring those stories to even broader audiences around the world, powered by the scale and capabilities of Skydance.
I couldn’t be more excited about what we’re going to build together.
The soon-to-merge Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery will officially be named “Skydance,” according to chairman and CEO David Ellison.

BREAKING! Sky Sports News understands that players and their representatives have contacted lawyers over potential claims against Man City.
It's understood that players are consulting lawyers over missed bonuses - whether that is from missing out on a title or on European qualification.
Movie theaters across North America are investing $2.7 billion in major upgrades and innovations, including more heated reclining seats, expanded food and beverage services, and premium large formats.
“From the world’s largest circuits to independent theaters on Main Streets across this great nation, theater owners have shown how much they believe in the future of the big screen, and 2026’s strong box office proves that commitment is paying off,” said president and CEO of Cinema United. “When a theater reinvests in itself, everyone wins — moviegoers get a better experience, studios get a stronger platform, local businesses benefit, and contractors get the work that comes with it. Cinema United members are reaffirming that there is nothing like seeing a movie on a big screen. Every investment in a movie theater is an investment in the community it serves, which is why moviegoing will remain essential for generations to come.”

The deal isn't finalized yet.
Expect Netflix to invest more in live programming.
At Bloomberg's Screentime summit, Ted Sarandos said that the company isn't growing as fast as he'd like. He added that live-programming drives subscription sign-ups and retention.
Really fun evening joining the taping of Gayle Troberman's Bubbler podcast with Known's Ross Martin interviewing (former) Barstool's Erica Nardini.
Honest and often hilarious discussion.
