Everyone loves the 2026 NBA Draft class.
But very few people want to give American grassroots basketball credit for developing it.
After spending the last decade scouting on both sides of the Atlantic, here's why I believe the criticism of AAU and grassroots basketball has gone too far.

Another note: Everyone on Team LA has played really well, and it’s why they’re 7-1.
Team consists of Jordan McDaniel, Bryson Jatta, Malik Moore, Austin Leonard, Carter George, DJ Okoth, Marque Johnson Jr., Gaoussou Samake, Mmesoma Ndubisi, Payton Wilson and Mamadou Issa Sow.
AJ on what his dad means to him:
"So many sacrifices that he's made. He quit his job just to retire to come move in with me at Utah Prep so I'd be safe. Sending me over to California by myself to go get a better basketball experience. All the little stuff that I didn't notice he was doing at a young age obviously it's paying off now. But he's my dad. I mean, he acts as my manager. He does a whole bunch of stuff that he doesn't have to do. But I just give him the utmost thanks. I wanted Adam to call me Anicet because I wanted to also honor my dad. He is Anicet Dybantsa Sr. It's his name. I mean, it's my day today, but without him I wouldn't be here"
Coaches 2028 Damian Mojica (@drmojica09) is a strong physical wing / Foward that can score on all three levels, plays the right way and very talented I wouldn’t be surprised his ranking starts to going up from here !
Colton Hiller is averaging 21 points on 38.5% 3P in EYBL 17U play.
He's also one of the youngest players in the class.
Size, scoring instincts & the ability to produce while being the focus of every scouting report are why he's No. 2 in 2028.
Who does he play like? 👀
