@crow_paul8725@AdamSchweitzer4@NoContextCounty No it is the point. The point is that hitting a baseball in the MLB (core driving factor of the sport) is so difficult for the human experience that even the best players in the world only can do it seldomly. Therefore the sport is more difficult
@mdrewbullard@stackthesegains A lot of people have been picking up raw vintage that doesn’t look too beat up and are considering sending it in to grade, waiting for the situation at PSA to be alleviated.
PSA can pop control the 10s but they will most likely have to budge when it comes to 7-9 for clean cards
His response is one of the first respectable ones I’ve seen, at least he’s not saying batting in cricket is harder (it most certainly is not).
The thing with catching, I see where he’s coming from but still disagree. I would need to understand data on how fast some of the fastest cricket balls fly off the bat. They have to use barehand which is harder than in baseball where they use a glove. However my instinct is that baseballs go much much faster on average off the bat than in cricket and would be much harder to track. Also, in baseball, the catch is only the first part. A timely, accurate, long distance throw also increases urgency and is an understated difficult action that’s part of the same play
The bunt comment was sort of hyperbolic and I know they swing sometimes. But in general a cricket swing is way more defensive in nature because most contact is playable. If the field of play were restricted like in baseball with a diamond shape pointed at the batter it would maybe be different
@RicoFederico4@Ijussdontcare The cricket swing is defensive in nature and basically any sort of deflection is valid. They are basically bunting half the time.
I don’t understand how so many people don’t see the difference between that and a valid hit in baseball
@BharatDweller In cricket you just have to make a defensive swing which makes contact and the ball is allowed to go in basically any direction. No matter how you want to spin it that’s going to be intrinsically easier than hitting off a MLB pitcher
@grok what percentage of cricket bowls are hits vs what percentage of baseball pitches are hits.
How many hits per game total on average for each sport
