NEWS: Four suspects believed to be Ugandan natuonals have been arrested for fraud and extortion and hauled before the Booysens Magistrates’ Court in Gauteng.

Ismair Nsubugu, George Lubuluma, Geofrey Bukenya, and Nicolas Bolodangaine, allegedly convinced a desperate South African woman that her money could be multiplied through ancestral rituals conducted by a fake Ugandan priest.

After becoming suspicious, the woman alerted the police who then conducted an operation.

One of the suspects was arrested while accompanying the woman to Midrand to secure loans from a bank so that she can take money to the fake pastor.

The suspect subsequently led police to a property in Winchester Hills, where three additional suspects were arrested. FOREIGN NATIONALS FUNDED WITHOUT APPROVAL

The investigation showed that seven students who received bursaries from the OTP were foreign nationals, with six of them funded on a merit basis as top achievers. However, the SIU found no approval to deviate from the bursary policy, which specifies that bursaries are for South African citizens residing in the Free State.
