The British colonialism lasted a few centuries, left behind railroads, legal systems, education, and modern institutions.
It wasn't perfect. It had its sins. But it also built.
The British brought modern medicine, science, engineering, and governance.
They opened schools, built cities, printed books, developed infrastructure, and left behind functioning states, many of which are now sovereign global players.
Now compare that to Islamic colonialism,
1,400 years long, relentless, brutal, and still ongoing.
It left behind slavery, tribalism, religious apartheid, cultural erasure, and the complete destruction of countless civilizations.
In India alone, Islamic invasions are estimated to have killed 80 million Hindus.
Entire cultures, Zoroastrians, Berbers, Assyrians, Nubians, Copts, were wiped out, Arabized, or reduced to second-class citizens.
Native languages were erased. Indigenous philosophies were buried under Arabic supremacism.
Libraries were destroyed.
Islamic empires didn't bring modernity.
They stole achievements from conquered people, translated their works, stamped Arabic on them, and claimed the glory.
What was preserved from the Greeks, Persians, and Indians wasn't Islamic brilliance, it was Islamic appropriation.
Islamic colonialism didn't leave behind parliaments, constitutions, or democratic institutions.
It left behind dictatorships, theocracies, blasphemy laws, and sharia brutality.
It replaced thinkers with clerics, debate with dogma, and diversity with submission.
Never put British and Islamic colonialism in the same category.
British colonialism built nations.
Islamic colonialism buried them.
Blizzard was a game developer that was so popular that they used to have their own annual ComicCon style convention where fans from all over the world would come to meet the developers of their favorite games and learn what new stuff was coming.
Then, an unhappy faction who didn’t like the “frat house” atmosphere made a bunch of largely false allegations at the height of #MeToo. Lawyers were brought in to investigate, and they found email chains discussing the “Cosby Suite,” which was the hospitality suite at the convention hotel that Blizzard developers named for its carpets that looked like a Bill Cosby sweater.
These emails were from years before Cosby’s sexual assault conviction, but they were considered damning at the time and it was insinuated in the media that the men on the email chain were committing rape in the “Cosby Suite,” entirely because of the name.
Everyone on the email chain — men who had worked at Blizzard for decades and built the Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft franchises — were fired in disgrace over this.
Alex Afrasiabi had his name stripped out of World of Warcraft. An Overwatch character named after veteran Blizzard developer Jesse McCree was renamed in the game. These guys did absolutely nothing wrong except joke with their friends in emails they never expected to be exposed as part of a witch hunt.
In the wake of the mass firings of veterans game designers, the entire culture of Blizzard changed as an institution, and the games changed too — for the worse. “World of Warcraft” became a cozy fantasy coffee shop game. “Overwatch” became a gay pride game. Nobody would go to a convention these days to celebrate these games or the people who now work on them.
The false sexual assault allegations were a pretense for a crowd of disgruntled nonbinary weirdos to seize the greatest game studio in the United States, but without the people they purged and replaced, they could not uphold Blizzard’s once legendary standard of quality and the studio collapsed into irrelevance.
When you see gamers celebrating mass layoffs at game studios, it is because things like this happened across the gaming industry. The hobby was conquered and transformed by people who believed gaming needed to change. But they changed it into something nobody wants to pay for, and now they’re all losing their jobs.
@DrunkRepub Except that Trump did shut down the country, put Fauci in charge, and authorized the insane covid spend that caused the Biden inflation. He is not off the hook.
If you’re worried about the Gen Z vote don’t treat them with kid gloves.
They’re old enough now to know when they’re getting played. Just point out the obvious:
- Republicans didn’t pump you full of psych drugs and try to convince you you were in the wrong body, Democrats did that.
- Republicans didn’t shut down their states for months during COVID and derail your life, Democrats did that.
- Republicans didn’t put you $150K into debt for a worthless degree, Democrats did that.
- Republicans didn’t let in millions of illegals over 4 years causing housing to skyrocket, Democrats did.
- Democrats aren’t trying to bring down prices via deregulation, deportations and rooting out fraud, Republicans are doing that.
- Democrats didn’t make it easier to start a family by permanently expanding the child tax credit, Republicans did that.
- Democrats aren’t making your community safer by locking up violent criminals, Republicans are doing that.
These are all demonstrably true statements that will do far more to win over young people than promising them the moon, especially when we all know the world doesn’t move that fast.
Stop tiptoeing around them like they’re children.
They’ll appreciate it.
@Artlair000Art@GabeGuidarini It was way worse in the 70s and 80s but we built businesses and defeated communism.
You embrace communism and blame everyone else for your failures.
Gfy
@UtahFlatRanger Strawman fallacy. Nobody is claiming affordability is not a problem, the statement is that you don’t need to be buying $20 burritos delivered to your door if you a college kid.
