@GLHSDiaspora was yet another motivating and eye opening experience. The platform to have such a voice about such important things such as race and identity in these divisive times is an important part of the educational process. Next performance starts soon. Be there.
From Trinity’s self-composed piece to Nate’s evolution of drumming to spoken work by Danielle to original raps by Mike and beautiful ballads by Izzie and Charlie, the range of talents shared today was incredible and made me proud to be a @GLHSLions. Thank you for sharing.
What I appreciate most about @GLHSDiaspora was what it leaves me chewing on. From the idea that saying “I don’t see color” means “I don’t see the history of discrimination” and one of the most moving performances of “Strange Fruit” I’ve ever seen, thank you for your voices.
And to my director friends and colleagues... the work you do to put this together has not gone unnoticed. Thank you for what you do to amplify the voices of our brilliant young men and women. Much love to @DrDonjaThomas and the other directors of @GLHSDiaspora as well! ❤️
To the cast, crew and directors of @GLHSDiaspora, what a lovely way to spend the morning seeing such powerful performances. I’m still processing the brilliance of the “Strange Fruit” piece. Congrats to all involved. Can’t wait to see the full thing!
