@TheTrinketMage Drannith Magistrate dies to almost all removal, if you think the card is "broken" it is because you dont play enough interaction. That is a problem with you as a player / deck builder.
@JonathanLittle I also tighten up which hands i will bet to the showdown as the average winning hand will be stronger.
But i have just started reading Alex Fitzgerald's book on this topic so my strat may change
@JonathanLittle At the moment, for the weakest and most call heavy games, i add a preflop calling range made up of suited connectors and aces that are usually just slightly too weak to play as well as small packet pairs. Basically i take the odds given to mine premium hands post flop
@luckyghoulx Deck is pretty weak. I think the problem is on the players side.
I have all the cards for celabi / serperior, i dont play it, the deck im playing isnt trying to beat it, im 12/2 against it.
@warchildgrendel@SteelCitySteph Personally i think pointing out when you see part of a likely combo is good. I think the op is talking about something slightly different but dont know for sure
@SteelCitySteph Mine is creating a bunch of extra arbitrary "rules" others have to follow because some players dont like improving their play skill or decks!
@golgariguy I have a deck where the constraint is that all the win cons come from my opponents decks, mostly through copy effects. The stronger their deck the stronger they make mine
@BookwormPainter@wizards_magic Hard agree im not buying any more expensive cards again. The explanations they gave made it clear that any mana card over $3 is in the cross-hairs for a ban, why would i risk my money now
@mattbag00@mYiAspartem No they didn't it was created by judges to pass the downtime during tournaments. Some of those judges may still be around, but the "committee" didnt invent the format
