Clarifying My Stance on Immigration:

To those who have attacked me, I assure you that my position on immigration is entirely consistent with my Christian faith and U.S. law. Before you judge, know the facts.

Countries limit access through their borders to protect their security, culture, and the rights of their citizens. A country without borders, and a rigorous vetting process for entry, is not an effective country with an aspirational future.

Like many countries, the U.S. has a robust system that enables people to enter legally. The system is designed to ensure that those entering the country meet legal requirements and commit to upholding our values. Chief among those values:

- Rule of law
- Respect for all people regardless of race, gender, and beliefs
- Religious freedom and tolerance
- Self-reliance, the ability to support themselves
- Harbor no nefarious intent towards the country

The U.S. has always been pro-immigrant and has allowed entry to more immigrants than any other country. Over 72 million just since 1965. Nearly 50 million foreign-born people currently live here. That’s 14.3% of the U.S. population, the highest percentage since 1910. The record high was 14.8% in 1890.

We welcome a reasonable number of immigrants each year who meet the legal requirements and agree to uphold our values. Those seeking entry are required to disclose their associations and any criminal past and commit to upholding our laws and values. If it’s discovered that they lied on the entry forms, they can and should be removed.

Those who enter illegally, by-pass the vetting process entirely. In that case, we have no idea who they are, why they are here, or if they are compatible with our laws, values, and culture. They should be removed as soon as possible.

Over the past 5 years many communities have been forced to absorb far too many immigrants. During that time an estimated 10 to 20 million immigrants have entered the U.S. illegally or through the Biden administration’s abuse of the asylum system. Community infrastructures, resources, and cultural identities have been pushed to the breaking point. Our communities must be restored immediately.

All persons who have entered the country illegally should be removed. Most who were granted temporary asylum during the Biden abuses should be removed.

Immigrants, real people, are suffering because they were lied to by Biden. It upsets me that they are experiencing very high levels of stress and disruption as a result. This should have never happened to them. The blame for their suffering falls at the feet of those who encouraged the import of 10 to 20 million immigrants with zero vetting. Every open-borders advocate is to blame for the suffering of these people.

We can never let this happen again.

The words of President Trump, in his welcome message to new citizens, is very clear on the responsibilities of those entering the country:

“There is no higher honor, there is no greater responsibility. You now share the obligation to teach our values to others, to help newcomers assimilate to our way of life, and uplift America by living according to its highest ideals of self-governance and its highest standards.”

Expedited Removal is Law:

Created in 1996 by the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigration Responsibility Act (IRAIRA), expedited removal is a procedure that allows U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials to rapidly deport noncitizens who are undocumented or who have committed misrepresentation or fraud.

Under expedited removal processes, noncitizens are deported in a single day without an immigration court hearing or other appearance before a judge. CBP officers exclusively conduct the process, which is usually completed within a couple of hours, affording little to no opportunity for the noncitizen to collect evidence or consult with an attorney. In most circumstances, the noncitizen does not have a right to appeal. Those who have been subjected to expedited removal are detained until they are formally removed.
