We are the Kenyan Network of the UN @GlobalCompact. We advance the #SDGs & UNGC's Ten Principles on Human Rights, Labor, Environment & Anti-Corruption.
A key takeaway: technology must be affordable, locally relevant and backed by viable business models.
Otherwise, it risks excluding the informal and community-level actors who are central to how waste moves across African cities.

Waste in Africa is no longer just a municipal issue. It is a business, supply chain and resource efficiency issue, and technology is increasingly being asked to help solve it.
On 3 June, GCNK joined Day 1 of AWWS III, convened by @TakaNiMaliKenya in Nairobi.
Stephen Kimenye, Program Manager at GCNK, joined the Pillar 1 discussion on Technology and Digital Innovation in Waste Systems, speaking on how smart technologies can improve system efficiency across Africa’s waste value chains.

Sustainability is fast becoming the defining pillar of global industry, and tourism is no exception.
As businesses embed responsible practices across value chains, corporate responsibility has never been more critical.

We were pleased to be joined by @IsuzuEastAfrica, represented by Dancan Muhindi. Their work in driver training, road safety education, and safer vehicles shows how business can help shift driving culture, save lives, and advance safer roads for all.
#RoadSafety
Today, @judy_njino, Executive Director of Global Compact Network Kenya, hosted a high-level road safety briefing with @JeanTodt, @UN Special Envoy for Road Safety and former CEO of Ferrari, alongside a delegation from the @UNOPS.
The session explored how Kenya can accelerate road safety action through stronger leadership, policy coherence, private sector commitment, safer transport systems, better data, enforcement, and focused attention on high-risk road users, including motorcyclists and pedestrians.
Participants reinforced the need to move from dialogue to implementation through shared learning, honest reflection, accessible grievance mechanisms and practical tools that embed social sustainability into daily business operations.

The panel featured Lawrence Muiruri on state and private sector collaboration, Catherine Gitobu on @CKLAfricaltd's values led sustainability journey, John Nzioka Nzomo on practical gender and disability targets, and Ruth Getobai on closing implementation gaps.
Discussions highlighted the private sector’s role in investment, innovation, job creation, responsible business conduct, and sustainable solutions.
Both parties reaffirmed the @globalcompact as a platform for convening business leadership and collective action.
Global Compact Network Kenya, led by Board Chairperson and @AbsaKenya CEO @AbdiMD, held an introductory meeting with the new @UN Resident Coordinator to Kenya, Garry Conille.
The meeting formally welcomed him to the Board of Global Compact Network Kenya.
The engagement, also attended by Board Member and @MPShahhospital CEO Dr. @DinToseef and Executive Director @judy_njino, explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration between the private sector and the UN system in advancing Kenya’s sustainable development agenda.
