@DrewPavlou Was never built on solid foundations, core vote is v small. Same issue as the Lib Dems (lack of media airtime). It’s possible a good election campaign when they do get some more airtime might boost them, but it’s FPTP. 8% vote share and increase in seats would be good for them
@mammutly Tbf it’ll depend on who is hosting it. Lots of people who like a bit of sport & spectacle will tune in if it’s worth it. Glasgow stepped in last min & have done it on a shoestring. The next one is in India and is seen as a precursor to an Olympic bid. Will be taken more seriously
@StozUTB Rosario has got some lovely parts, I just think we should be better than this and know that you can’t lay the failures of the government and its jingoistic media on all of its people
@StozUTB Bit unfair, I’ve been to Rosario and have friends there (who’s Dads fought in the war for the argies, whilst some of my lots Dads fought for the Brits). Wonderful part of the world, incredible hospitality, don’t agree with their politics towards Falklands but greatly respect them
@lee1892Johnson I was there. He went on one season too long after the club begged him to stay and Ashley refused to sign a replacement. I think he tried his best but he just wasn’t at the level any more
@realhansard Moved to Albania a month ago. Supermarkets are barely a thing here; everything is markets, green grocers, fishmongers etc all fresh. I spend less and eat healthier
@gideonrachman Honestly went there as a Brit with mates whose fathers had served in the Falklands, stayed with guys whose fathers had fought for Argentina. Were made so welcome! They know how to do a decent steak too, as usual the jingoism disappears once you all get around a table together
@mnc_marcos@brezhneviano The islands weren’t ‘supposed to go to Argentina’ in 1833, there were competing claims. In any case we are talking about 2026, where the population has lived there for nearly 200 years
@mnc_marcos@brezhneviano If self determination matters in one territorial dispute but not another, what’s the principle? Should populations always get to choose, or only when it produces the outcome you prefer?
