In 1913 law-abiding people were dispossessed of their only means of earning a living: land. The Native Land Act of 1913 forced millions of black South Africans from productive farms across the country, when their cattle, their homes, their crops and their possessions, were taken from them. South Africa must document its history properly, or we risk people even denying apartheid ever happened. We need more documentaries and demographic data—without them, we leave the narrative to those with influence to shape the country as they see fit.
