משפחתו הספיקה בסוף השבוע למצוא בין הפריטים שלו גם מחברות ויומנים שהותיר אחריו ובהם בולטת תפיסת עולמו והערכים העצומים שלו: "אני הולך לשרת בשמחה עצומה, לא משנה איפה בסוף... אני רוצה לעשות ולהשקיע ולהשפיע כמה שיותר, לא משום שמישהו מנצל אותי או מכריח אותי לעשות, אלא מתוך הכרה בחשיבות השירות הצבאי ומתוך ידיעה שבשביל משימות כאלו באנו לעולם... זה שאני בצבא זה בשביל היכולת לילדים להיוולד בארץ. להיות חייל בצבא זו זכות, מצווה, זו לא מטלה. אני לא עושה טובה לאף אחד. צריך להיות אדם משמעותי, לא משנה איפה".
