okay there’s a lot to unpack here:
1) one thing that needs to be made clear is that k-pop isn’t a genre but rather an industry comprised of many various genres of music.
2) k-pop, c-pop and j-pop aren’t the only forms of music representing asia so why only single out those three? if this is about representing asian pop music then represent all of asia not just three countries.
3) if you believe this is about representing music based off of region, country or language then why not have a canadian pop, british pop, australian pop, french pop, swedish pop category? why is music performed by minority artists placed in boxes based on their nationality, race, ethnicity or native language?
4) and explain to everyone how exactly is segregating artists based on their region or language an example of diversity and inclusion and something these artists should be happy about? don’t insult our intelligence.
5) my advice is this is a time to do less talking and more listening because this entire statement is completely tone deaf and missing the point. bts have made it clear where they stand how about actually hearing them.
when you are out here proudly defending and justifying blatant racism and xenophobia and presenting it as diversity you are on the wrong side of history.
the shirt Jimin wore during the FIFA World Cup 2026 Halftime Show now ranks as one of the highest selling single clothing items ever auctioned off at Christie’s, alongside Audrey Hepburn’s iconic Breakfast at Tiffany’s black dress, Princess Diana’s “Travolta Dress” and Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic 1969 Oscars dress. Jimin’s Jersey was sold for USD 110,000.
🐹 We were fans of artists who speak the different languages from us but we didn’t think differently of them because of that. I was a fan of them & still am & I don’t think a language is a barrier. I’ve always cared more about the emotions in their music
"We hope that music can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language."
pretty much a direct fuck you to this bullshit ostracism they're starting next year
it’s a win for us. any group that does submit for a category that was created to segregate Asian artists will go down in history as spineless and desperate. BTS have integrity, self-respect, and strength in genuine support— the most admirable award there is.
i dont think y’all realize how fucking cool it is to just openly announce you are not submitting for the grammys because of their mistreatment. it takes a lot to have that kind of courage. they said FUCK that racist organization. BTS are truly the most inspiring artists ever
Message from BTS about the Grammys:
“We decided not to participate in the Grammy this year.
I hope that music can be heard and loved by music itself rather than being divided by region or language.
To Army and everyone who is always with me
Thank you”

for bts not to submit one of their biggest albums to the grammys this year is huge and i respect them for that. so much was poured into arirang and its message and i feel like it wouldn’t sit right with bts at all especially with the new category the grammys put out
