I wonder how Ted Cruz would feel if Somalia recognized Puerto Rico as the 51st state? Or better yet, if they recognized Texas as an independent country? What the conversation about recognizing Somaliland misses, which this article on hints at, is that the US military could well lose all overflight rights over all federal states -- Somaliland, Puntland, Jubaland -- if we formally recognize any of the individual federal states. That's why every US CT strike anywhere in Somalia is said to be done in coordination and cooperation with the Federal Government of Somalia. How then does it improve our CT posture if we risk losing our entire access to Somalia because of our recognition of Somaliland? And what is it that we are not getting now in terms of access or cooperation for our CT mission from either Mogadishu or Hargeisa that we would somehow unlock by recognizing Somaliland? Nothing. And yet what would it cost us? #UAE intensifies its air-bridge to supply weapons to #RSF in #Sudan, utilizing #Bosaso Airport as a key transit hub. Two large UAE cargo planes are active in Bosaso—one delivering arms from the UAE, the other transporting weapons onward to Sudan via #Chad and other destinations.

I strongly condemn the execution of four #Somali nationals by the Quasi-Daesh state of #SaudiArabia. Such actions are deeply heinous and constitute a grave violation of human rights. This barbaric practice used by the Wahhabi state is reminiscent of extremist groups like ISIS.
