A dog was missing for days, and nobody knew what happened until an alligator showed up with his collar in its mouth.

In Florida, a family started panicking after their golden retriever disappeared from the yard, especially because he was the kind of dog who never wandered far from home.

They searched that night, called neighbors, checked every spot he usually hid, but there was no sign of him. After three days, their worst fear seemed to come true when an alligator crawled near the front deck with what looked like the dog’s collar hanging from its mouth.

The family broke down, believing the alligator had taken him.

But the next morning, a neighbor heard sneezing under his deck. When he looked underneath, the missing golden retriever was hiding there, shaken and muddy, but alive.

He had no collar.

That’s when the family realized they were only partly right. The alligator may have grabbed him, but the dog somehow slipped free, leaving behind the only thing the alligator managed to take.

For three days, they thought the collar meant goodbye, but it turned out to be the reason they found hope again.
