@comicaccuracy@jammysuns Ironically that one didn’t have much off an impact, considering Scream 7 opened+finished at franchise best. Was tracking strongly prior even with presales ($90m+ 3 day OW was great), the problem was WOM/legs were poor. In a vacuum 180m budget with 410m gross is okay for a debut.
@ZEOxious Jon Bernthal, a known IDF supporter is in a bigger role in BND than whoever played Sabra in BNW, and that’s about to open to 300m+ stateside.
Just because YOU don’t want him back at Marvel, doesn’t mean Coogler doesn’t want to return. It’s clear that he loves the Panther franchise. It helped get him to blank check status.
And btw, where is Coogler’s post Sinners blank check? He drops an Oscar record breaking box office hit original film and then follows it up with a TV reboot and a trip to the MCU factory. Why doesn’t he get an Oscar blank check movie? He’s more than talented enough to deserve one
@comicaccuracy And the funniest thing is SW was still gonna be the big $2-2.5b+ hitter regardless of which path taken due to nostalgia. It’s kinda why I wish the Avengers got something at 2023. Yeah, kinda dulls the impact of Endgame but the GA need patterns. Give the new guys a win before Kang
@comicaccuracy I mean I buy out of greed, the reboot outcome was coming regardless of reception this decade but they sabotaged the new characters themselves with the Doom decision because now the Avengers films not only have to be big events but center around the OG3.
@comicaccuracy The funny thing is for all the worry about “it’d bomb”. If Kang had good reception, would’ve done similar as Avengers 1/Ultron. (Bit more DOM like 550-600m, with less OS). Which is still good. However, Feige and Iger/D’Amaro (same shit, same ceo) were thirsty for a $2B+ hitter.
@comicaccuracy ? Sinners is in the top 10 DOM at $270m+, and F1 is in the Top 10 WW. First time we've had 3 150m+ originals post pandemic. Not that good but we are getting there.
@comicaccuracy In fairness as someone who follows box office, I genuinely don’t think the strikes affected BNW nor did the hate campaign miraculously. It was always going to fall off to large degree from CW but judging by ticket sales, online metrics, etc there’s no proof it was effected OW.
@comicaccuracy It’s fucking suspect there’s only five women in the cast and would be a bummer to leave them out. I do imagine there’s more as Atwell wasn’t mentioned and she’s in the cast but still irritating. I imagine we’ll likely get more names at Comic-Con
@comicaccuracy I doubt it’s the full cast. It’s odd how apart from Shang-Chi and Thor, the ones announced not X-Men are those who had/have movies this year (Cap/Thunderbolts/F4) and the world of Wakanda. Do imagine this is done to show names that would get the keydanglers of the fans/GA hyped.
@comicaccuracy I’m scared of the .001% chance but no it won’t. Zendaya is too big a name to piss off and would cause PR drama, especially with Tom as the two are engaged.
@comicaccuracy The filmbros get their 35k like/290k views hate tweet and Marvel gets to advertise their movie to those who are interested and making sure TB stays in discussion even if its a tedious one. Even the A24 account is posting about it. It’s not about image, it’s about eyeballs.
@comicaccuracy The aim for the A24 comments/teaser was less to attract filmbros/troll and more to spread awareness. Though not as online as Gunn, the MCU marketing team are somewhat aware of online reception. They knew those comments would go viral and decide to run with it.
