🌟Hey everyone! It’s been a while but I’m back with love and positivity! 💖
I’ve always been a bit of an odd duck, but I believe there’s room for all of us, quirks and all, to show up and support the things we care about! 🦆✨
Lately, there’s been quite a bit of buzz around the Godot Engine. Whatever side you’re on, one thing’s for sure: indie devs, content creators, and open-source communities thrive when we support each other! If you love Godot, consider donating or showing your support to help keep this awesome game engine growing. 🚀🎮🌕
Let’s keep building and creating together with love and respect. 💓

Best of luck to both #Godot and #Redot!
I'm always interested in education, so best of luck to Redot for the free and live coding workshops 🥳
I am not affiliated with or sponsored by the Godot Game Engine nor the Redot Game Engine.
(Pt. 15) @RedotEngine Situation
#Redot claims that #Godot is no longer community driven unlike how it started out in Godot’s inception days.
That was the inspiration for why the Redot project started.
Redot claims to want to build features where community comes first rather than what Sponsors are asking with donations.
(Pt. 14) @RedotEngine Situation
#Redot claims that they don’t want to touch anything inside #Godot core.
Redot doesn't want to edit or change #GDScript.
Redot wants to optimize as long as they don't touch core code.
Redot does not want this to be a place where community adds pet projects or features.
They want serious features that will be maintained in the long-term without putting stress on the main team.
@ZverStudios @RedotEngine My sincerest apologies. I agree that the negative reviews are intentional without regard to the product.
I’m unsure if it was born organically, or if it was in fact coordinated, ie a “campaign.”
Your point still stands.
(Pt. 12) @RedotEngine Situation
They plan on bringing #Redot onto steam.
Keep in mind that the #Godot steam page has been seeing negative reviews, one could make the case a negative review bombing campaign is going on these past few days.
(Pt. 13) @RedotEngine Situation
#Redot want to add more examples on how to use features and functions in the documentation; they claim that #Godot documentation lacks on using functions and things of that nature.
(Pt. 11) @RedotEngine Situation
What’s to stop #Redot from being a nightly build of #Godot?
Redot believes that the project will at some point will get further away from Godot as they build and merge things.
Once that happens, Redot will work on patches and reworks to continue to allow for upstreams.
(Pt. 10) @RedotEngine Situation
The community is demanding a #Redot Game Jam, that Game Jam will be formally announced sometime after the first build is released and live (TBD).
#Godot
(Pt. 9) @RedotEngine Situation
#Redot wants to figure out a way to do console ports and make it free for the community like #Defold does.
However it’s too early to discuss this, but Redot plans on getting to this idea.
Redot shows interest on tackling #Switch porting first.
#Godot
(Pt. 8) @RedotEngine Situation
#Redot claims to have devs with 20 years of C++ experience.
Redot admits that the devs don't want to put their face on the project due to the drama surrounding the nature of the last week.
There are questions as to whether the core team at Redot have experience with #Godot. Redot claims that only 2 members have delved into the Godot codebase pushing core features. However they claim all devs have the resume and background to be more than competent.
(Pt. 7) @RedotEngine Situation
#Redot claims that they don't want to push for funding for the first few months. They mention #Godot has funding and they can't beat that, however Redot wants to gain community trust by providing features first to prove Redots worth.
If these plans change, they will let the community know first.
(Pt. 5) @RedotEngine Situation
#Redot started a YouTube channel. The initial plan is to start making community spotlight videos Redot related. They plan on making 10 minute videos.
They also want to create a podcast that is weekly or biweekly to talk about what is happening in the community, the dev process, and spotlight what's going on with the engine.
#Godot
(Pt. 6) @RedotEngine Situation
#Redot claims to want to be transparent to the point where the community will know what they are doing before the devs know what they are doing.
The goal Redot claims to want to fix is a lack of communication between devs and people of authority. They claim the #Godot Foundation and the Godot team make this mistake.
(Pt. 4) @RedotEngine Situation
They want to start the process of creating a coding academy with #Redot at the center.
There is a person that wants to start a free game dev academy called "Redot Game Academy" (TBD). Redot will support this project.
The plan is to teach live courses similar to a workshop. Courses will be done from scratch using Redot.
Lots of potential for learning and creating content!
#Godot
(Pt. 3) @RedotEngine situation
#Redot says that if the project was meant to be closed source, then it would not be open source.
50% of Redot will be on building an engine, and making it apolitical. They want to keep away from drama which can be detrimental to game devs who want to make games.
The other half is building a community that wants to work together and help each other.
#Godot
(Pt. 2) @RedotEngine situation
#Redot says they love #Godot enough to fork it.
They want to focus on stability, keeping parity, and building features as modules similar to #Linux.
Redot says that there is room for both projects and that nobody has to worry that Redot hates Godot.
(Pt. 1) Just reporting on the @RedotEngine situation.
#Redot wants to make no changes to the core build of #Godot but rather build on modules that will be automatically downloaded when you download Redot.
This is on top of merging pull requests that have been sitting for a while, as long as they don't affect core.
