Exactly. Do your due diligence before applying or accepting clerkship placements. Talk to people who have been to those places to understand what they offer, what they don’t, and their general experience. It helps prepare you mentally.

@CriticalTimo I recently saw the LDC admin going through the curriculum, I think when teaching Professional Conduct, these are the things that should be taught. It seems many lawyers don’t have the basic etiquette we think they do. Posting that letter was completely uncalled for!

Lately, it almost seems as though some radio presenters are learning on the job. Employers should educate their staff on the legal implications of their actions. Otherwise it is their brand that suffers the effects as lawyers get richer from costs awarded in suits against them.

@MKapidi People tend to forget that their actions could potentially lead to the downfall of someone else’s PR as if a reputation is built in a day. How can clients trust that their information is confidential when we live in a society where people seem to share information as they please?

I don’t know if the word “demanded” in this context accurately explains what exactly she did or if it’s just lawyers and their tendency to use hyperbole. Students should do their due diligence about firms before applying there. This can either be the rise or downfall of her PR.

This has been a very common practice in the field. The same university qualification has time and again been considered by many law firms when taking up students for internship and clerkship.

Quite an insightful discussion. Succession Law more specifically Estates Administration has been making rounds given the recent developments and amendments.
