This show could have been classic if it was written as Aunt Rhaenyra vs her nephew Aegon over the throne as Civil War. And not whatever Sara Hess’s “it’s afterall about two women” fanfiction is all about.
@WeThrones I have enjoyed HotD Season 3 so far in chunks, but seems like fans are trying really hard to turn it into some great piece of storytelling when it is still inconsistently written melodrama

It's quite impressive that after open civil war with GRRM, snub from Emmys, war with half the fandom and critics, Condal opened S3 with such a force of positive responses from general audience.
@SeanDOlfc Are we watching the same show? Writing has been so mid. I give the set pieces in the end of episodes delivered but thw ground work for future is on a very weak foundation
@itsallastory I preferred it this way because it made it more believable that Rhaenyra who has never help a sword in combative situation can’t cut clean
Rhaenyra should have sent Otto to the Wall. Keeping him alive gives her some kind of negotiating leverage with House Hightower in Reach who are marching north with their troops.
@Samthrilzz Writers have massacred her character because they wanted to adapt George’s writing but wanted to shove their “only men are evil and push women into the war”, that is why even though Rhaenyra is doing some evil things but writers don’t want audience to think it
Rhaenyra Targaryen sitting on the Iron Throne is the ultimate joke, and thIs is why:
- She claims she wants peace, but her literal first act after taking King's Landing is beheading a defenseless Otto Hightower.
- She locked dozens of poor, lowborn bastards in a courtyard to get roasted alive by Vermithor just to get herself a few loyal nukes.
- She blockaded and starved the entire civilian population for weeks, dropped a few loaves of bread, and expected them to call her a savior.
- She had three kids who look identical to her "friend" Harwin, but had a man decapitated for pointing out basic biology.
-She weaponizes a secret prophecy her dad told her once as a blank check to justify every single blood-soaked decision she makes.
-She demanded absolute loyalty from the Velaryons while gaslighting them over Laenor’s highly suspicious "death."
She didn't "earn" the throne. She manufactured a crisis to take it, and we all need to admit it.
#HouseOfTheDragon #HOTD
@itsallastory Writers are too scared to make her look even little bad and that’s why they have taken all urgency and responsibility from her actions. The ending scene would’ve worked better if she wasn’t feeling bad about killing Alicent’s father and owned it up
@nonregemesse I always visualized Harrenhall as lotttt bigger than show version, the fact Balerion’s fire over a long period of time only turned it into a ruin which was still standing, makes it sound like a larging castle
Gaining favor from Rhaenyra/Daemon in case they take over and he is still inside castle. He knows how much Daemon hates Otto and Otto/Larys have no love songs to sing either
So just finished House of the Dragon #HouseoftheDragoon S03E02 and loved it (outside of that Japser and Alicient scene) but now seeing the reaction on X seems people didn’t like it
Creators fucked up by doing the close up of actor last season like she was some kind of puppetmaster. It would have make more sense that she gets visions from all over, confusing her explaining why she talks in riddles because she doesn’t even know what she’s talking about.
