Ballroom was created by black and brown trans women out of systemic racism and exclusion from society.
Kaya when their houses & community from New York eventually expanded here in the Philippines, aware ang community na this is borrowed culture not just an aesthetic or trend.
It’s not gatekeeping, it’s called being responsible.
Iba naman ang context ng kagatan nila sa show hahaha just sharing a very brief history and context kay OP. 🫶🏻
Yung culture (balls, houses), slangs (“category is”, “tens across the board”, the way ppl just say “random word + realness”) yung steps (dips, duck walk), gestures (finger clap) + MORE, sisikat at ieexploit ng non-ballroom. Ano ang nakuha ng mga gumawa at nagpapatuloy nito? Wala.
LOL this is the type of drama that I live for on Drag Race. Low stakes, needlessly petty, but not malicious or bullying. Very high school na awayan ng mga sections hahaha
@VashKohime She has to raise a son who she can never trust and is basically a ticking time bomb plus she has absolutely no one to confide to about it. Her life is hell and it's a tragedy but people just can't get over the fact that she "got away with it."
@VashKohime It's wild how much of this I feel like is boiled down to lack of empathy. Kerry's life sounds like an absolute nightmare. She's living with the guilt that she killed the love of her life who was only trying to protect her family.
