Eritrea’s Ministry of Information addresses recent statements by Ethiopia’s Prime Minister:
📍 Economic Facts: Ethiopia received $80–90B in foreign aid over 35 years & repeated bailouts, yet 68% live in extreme poverty.
📍 History: Colonial-era factories were dismantled long before 1991.
📍 Call for Peace: Stop regional destabilization and expansionist threats—Ethiopians and Ethiopia deserve better than cycles of turmoil.

🎥 MUST WATCH: Ambassador Girmay Haile DISMANTLES Ethiopia’s false Narrative on Assab! 🇪🇷🔥 (full interview link on the comments) Share & Comment
On Africa Talks, Ethiopia’s representative struggled to justify threats against Eritrea when asked why Ethiopia claims it lacks sea access despite access routes through neighboring countries (Somalia, Djibouti, Sudan, Kenya, Eritrea). Ambassador Girmay Haile powerfully challenged the historical distortions, imperial nostalgia, and baseless narratives of Eritrean incursion used to justify claims over Assab.
Assab is Eritrean. Sovereignty is NOT negotiable! Ethiopia must respect the Algiers Agreement and the commitments made under the 2018 Jeddah Peace Agreement as all the inte. The only legitimate path to the sea is through commercial agreements that fully respect Eritrea’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as reaffirmed by the UN Security Council and emphasized by @SecRubio. Sovereignty is non-negotiable!

🧭 Engineered Aggression: Deconstructing Addis Ababa’s "Sea Access" Pretext 🇪🇷 🇪🇹
Understanding how the Horn of Africa reached this flashpoint requires stripping away the propaganda and examining the strategic timeline [00:20]:
📌 Key Strategic Points
🔴 Trade vs. Sovereign Encroachment: Seeking commercial port access is normal for landlocked nations; demanding sovereign ownership over another state's coastline violates international law [01:43, 02:08].
🟡 Targeting Eritrea: Since late 2023, Addis Ababa's rhetoric was engineered specifically against sovereign Eritrean ports and borders [00:20, 02:24].
🟣 Deflecting Multi-Front Collapse: Facing armed resistance across Amhara, Tigray, and Oromia, the regime is using external escalation to distract from domestic failure [03:48, 04:00].
🟢 A Fabricated Scapegoat: The conflict inside Ethiopia is home-grown; blaming external actors is a bid to internationalize internal collapse [03:54].
"Sovereignty is absolute. Domestic crises cannot be resolved by violating international borders."

ህዝበይ ቅሰን ❤️🇪🇷
Some words carry the weight of a whole nation. When President Isaias Afwerki says, “ህዝበይ ቅሰን” “My people, be at ease” it is more than words. It is a bond built through struggle, sacrifice, and an unbreakable belief between a leader and his people. A nation forged through hardship, standing firm in the faith that its sovereignty and dignity are worth every sacrifice.

President Isaias Afwerki is ahead of his time. Decades ago, he responded to ርፍራፋት like @reda_getachew about the uniqueness of Eritreans, who are few but able to withstand enemies 100 times bigger than them.
Dear Cameron @_hudsonc, Can I ask you a question? What do you do? Now that you have removed the CIA reference from your Bio, What is your job title when it comes to the Horn of Africa and the Middle-East. How do you make a living? Are you a Journalist, a commentator, an Activist... and do you feel any responsibility when you use inflammatory words in the war theater happening in Sudan, Ethiopia and instigating war against Eritrea? Your views change from day to day, that you look like you are pitching for a gig! Just wondering!
Reading from a teleprompter on Ethiopia's TV yesterday, the Potemkin Party's Prime Minister disparages Eritrea's economic development, and particularly its manufacturing sector, as "stagnant and in decline" since its independence in 1991.
The speech/interview was also laced with his three-year old threats of war of aggression and invasion unless Eritrea succumbs to his delusional projects of "sovereign access to the sea" and "Ethiopian naval presence" in Eritrea's coastal territory; packaged this time round in different pretexts, language, and format.
To revert to his disparaging discourse on Eritrea's economic performance and potential:
1. In the past 35 years, Ethiopia was the beneficiary of a whopping 80-90 billion US dollars of international multilateral and bilateral assistance;
2. Ethiopia went through two rounds of WB sponsored debt-cancellation rounds, as well as repetitive financial bailouts from the IMF and other donors. For almost ten years in -between, Ethiopia's dire humanitarian conditions were alleviated by the international community under a customized "social safety net" and other similar "intensive care" financial antidotes.
3. The current regime itself has received over 30 billion US dollars in international assistance in the last 8 years alone. In addition, its tattering economy is being resuscitated by another IMF bailout programme to the tune of 3.1 billion US dollars.
4. And yet, as the figures below illustrate, more than 68% Ethiopians are living under extreme poverty while close to 30 million people require urgent humanitarian relief assistance at this point in time.
5. In as far as the 300 manufacturing plants that the PP leader alludes to, these were old factories built during Italy's colonization of Eritrea from 1889 until 1941. The British Military Administration dismantled many of those factories - including the dock in Massawa - as "war booty" and sold them to other foreign countries. The occupationist Haile Selassie regime, in its turn, dismantled many of the remaining factories and transferred them to Ethiopia especially during the imposed "Federation" period.
6. After its hard-won independence in 1991, Eritrea registered rapid economic growth in the first seven years (WB reports). Imposed wars and unwarranted sanctions thereafter naturally affected the pace and magnitude of its economic trajectory.
7. These externalities have nothing to do with Eritrea's open investment and economic policies and visions.
8. And in any case, Eritrea has the abundant economic endowments (blue economy, extractive industry, educated and industrious human capital, and a civilized culture that celebrates religious and ethnic diversity within robust national unity) to excel and achieve its aspirations of rapid and sustainable growth in a conducive and enduring regional climate of peace and stability.
9. Finally, Ethiopia itself could do much better, extricate itself from debilitating dependency, and use its abundant resources for real development if its leaders abandon sectarian policies of division and polarization that incubate perennial cycles of internal turmoil as well as intertwined acts of regional destabilization in pursuit of delusional and expansionist projects.
Cognitive dissonance occurs when a person experiences a contradiction between their beliefs and reality or their own behaviour. Some Ethiopian elites seem to have convinced themselves that Ethiopia cannot exist without owning a seaport, leading them to construct political fantasies to reconcile this belief with reality.
They appear to be harbouring a fantasy of Ethiopia as a kind of Wakanda—a country that owns a seaport, projects its power across #Africa and the world, commands a fleet of destroyers, and whose people live in a land of milk and honey.
Yet the reality is the #Ethiopia we witness today: a fragmented and polarised nation, with a government waging wars against its own people.
This is a classic case of cognitive dissonance among certain #Ethiopian elites. Unless they confront reality, the future looks bleak for both the nation and its people.
