@GoldsmithsUoL mgmt are not even bothering to 'fire & rehire.' They're asking staff provisionally selected for redundancy to apply for 'overflow' roles on smaller fractions & worse conditions with a turn around of <4 working days. This shoddy plan outrageously disregards workers.
If your job cuts have made it to the front page of the Sunday Times, I’d suggest @GoldsmithsUoL that you need a new strategy. How about opening the books, sitting down properly with the unions, lobbying government to change a failed system & not sacking some of your best assets?

The union has provided evidence that cuts are neither justified nor necessary given that the university has already made substantial savings earlier in the year.
My thoughts are with Goldsmiths colleagues this weekend who are waiting to find out who will receive redundancy notices on Monday. Please share - on why this matters to anyone who believes in the transformative power of education.
This week, management sent out 97 redundancy letters to academic staff across 11 departments as part of its ‘Transformation Programme’. We believe this will decimate staffing and programmes, such as the only MA Black British Literature course in the country.
